Different Non-Target Site Mechanisms Endow Different Glyphosate Susceptibility in Avena Species from Spain

چکیده

In recent decades, cereal agriculture across main producing areas in Spain has progressively adopted direct sowing, associated with an increased use of herbicides pre-sowing. Weedy species from genus Avena have been observed after the application glyphosate wheat. Here, fatua (two accessions), byzantina and sterilis subsp. sterilis, one accession each, were taxonomically characterized by a biometric study. Dose-response trials confirmed that A. evolved to resistance, because it was four times more resistant (R) than others, ascribed as susceptible (S). addition, based on LD50, had low susceptibility glyphosate, 604 458 g ae ha−1. Shikimic acid accumulation able discriminate between high (A. (S)), sterilis), (R)) populations. On other hand, study revealed (R), foliar uptake decreased movement glyphosate. metabolism showed less metabolite However, at 96 h application, convert 30% aminomethylphosphonic (AMPA) sarcosine. Enzyme basal activity I50 values predicted affinity herbicide target enzyme for all accessions, thus indicating target-site (TS) mechanism is probably not involved differences susceptibility. closing, non-target site (NTS) mechanisms could participate both R Spain.

Non-target Site Tolerance Mechanisms Describe Tolerance to Glyphosate in Avena sterilis

Sterile wild oat (Avena sterilis L.) is an autogamous grass established in warm climate regions. This species has been used as a cover crop in Mediterranean perennial crops during the spring period prior to initiating competition with the main crop for water and nutrients. However, such cover crops need to be controlled (by glyphosate or tillage) before the beginning of summer period (due to th...

Target and Non-target Site Mechanisms Developed by Glyphosate-Resistant Hairy beggarticks (Bidens pilosa L.) Populations from Mexico

In 2014 hairy beggarticks (Bidens pilosa L.) has been identified as being glyphosate-resistant in citrus orchards from Mexico. The target and non-target site mechanisms involved in the response to glyphosate of two resistant populations (R1 and R2) and one susceptible (S) were studied. Experiments of dose-response, shikimic acid accumulation, uptake-translocation, enzyme activity and 5-enolpyru...

Glyphosate Resistance in Tall Waterhemp (Amaranthus tuberculatus) from Mississippi is due to both Altered Target-Site and Nontarget-Site Mechanisms

A tall waterhemp population from Missisippi was suspected to be resistant to glyphosate. Glyphosate dose response experiments resulted in GR50 (dose required to reduce plant growth by 50%) values of 1.28 and 0.28 kg ae ha 21 glyphosate for the glyphosate-resistant (GR) and -susceptible (GS) populations, respectively, indicating a five-fold resistance. The absorption pattern of C-glyphosate betw...

Novel flaviviruses detected in different species of mosquitoes in Spain.

We report the characterization of three novel flaviviruses isolated in Spain. Marisma Mosquito virus, a novel mosquito borne virus, was isolated from Ochlerotatus caspius mosquitoes; Spanish Ochlerotatus flavivirus and Spanish Culex flavivirus, two novel insect flaviviruses, were isolated from Oc. caspius and Culex pipiens, respectively. During this investigation, we designed a sensitive RT-nes...

Perspectives on non-target site mechanisms of herbicide resistance in weedy plant species using evolutionary physiology

Evolutionary physiology merges the disciplines of evolution and physiology, and it is a research approach that has not received much attention for studying the development of herbicide resistance. This paper makes a case for using evolutionary physiology more frequently when studying herbicide resistance, and illustrates this using three areas where more work would be useful: (i) the interactio...
